REVEREND DR. NATHANIEL B. KNOWLES
Nathaniel Bernard Knowles was born in the city of Deerfield Beach, Florida. He is married to Linda Poitier Knowles and together they have two daughters and two grandchildren. In January 1968, he enlisted in the United States Navy where serving three years, he received an Honorable Discharge.
Dr. Knowles began his professional experience as a Customer Service Representative and later a Human Resources Supervisor at United Parcel Service (UPS) where he served for 25 years. He was employed by the Broward County School Board as a Community Liaison for the Dropout Prevention Program. Dr. Knowles served as the Director of the Gwyndolen Clarke-Reed Neighborhood Initiative Program, a youth summer job program for adolescents between ages 13 and 15 years old. He is also the former Director of Emmanuel Human Services, Inc., a social service agency which enhances the quality of life for individuals, families and the community.
Dr. Knowles is a Past-President of the Deerfield Beach Christian Ministerial Association. Dr. Knowles also served as a member of the Juvenile Justice Board for Broward County, FL. Dr. Knowles is employed as the Senior Chaplain for the Broward Sheriff’s Office. He is the first African American to serve in this position. The Chaplain's Office networks with various religious institutions to meet the multi-denominational needs of its employees. His Theological experience began in 1986 as an Associate Minister at Bibleway Temple. In December 1989 he established Emmanuel Christian Center Ministries in Deerfield Beach, FL where he continues to serve as Senior Pastor. In June 1996 he received his Doctoral Degree in Ministry from Evangel Center for Religious Studies. In April 1997, he received a second Doctoral Degree in Ministry from Logos Bible Seminary and Graduate College.
Dr. Knowles’ personal objectives are to be an effective Minister, to be an asset to the public by being a servant to his community and to see that every young person that he comes in contact with strives to become a success.
